The star left-handed starting pitcher, Blake Snell, will be one of the free agents attracting the most interest this winter during the MLB offseason. According to the latest reports, the reigning champions, the Los Angeles Dodgers, are one of the teams most eager to sign him.
The website MLB Trade Rumors recently revealed projections for the contracts that each high-impact free agent is expected to demand in order to agree to a deal during the winter market.
Therefore, if the Dodgers or another team wish to acquire Blake Snell’s services, the two-time Cy Young Award winner would need to be enticed with offers around $160 million for a contract of at least 5 seasons.
Snell, 32 years old, recently completed his contract with the San Francisco Giants and is in the free-agent market for the second consecutive year. After signing a two-year, $62 million deal with San Francisco following his second Cy Young Award win, the left-hander posted a 9.51 ERA in the first half, hampered by injuries. However, after July 9, he had a 1.23 ERA in 14 starts.
That Snell is on the Dodgers’ radar comes as no surprise, as they have tried to acquire him in the past when he was the ace of the Tampa Bay Rays’ rotation. Additionally, just a few days ago, manager Dave Roberts hinted that one of the club’s main goals is to sign a top starting pitcher, a role that Snell fits perfectly.
